Baramulla, Jan 14 (KNO): Government schools across Baramulla district dominated the JKBOSE Class 12 results, securing 37 top positions across streams, significantly outshining private institutions.
SRM Welkin Sopore led the private schools with eight strong showings in the science stream, including Maliha Sareer and Shaima Rashid, both clinching 3rd position valley-wide.
According to details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the government schools swept the Science rankings with standout achievements, including Mohammad Amaan Wani from Govt Higher Secondary School Goshbug at 3rd, Tanzeela Hilal from Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla also at 3rd, and Saadat Khan from the same school at 4th.
Similarly, Darakshan Nazir from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Chatoosa Rafiabad secured 5th position, alongside Karamveer Singh from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Singhpora Kalan, Mir Anzar Manzoor from Government Higher Secondary School Nehalpora Pattan and Tamana Ali from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla.
Ariz Ashraf from Government Boys Higher Secondary School Baramulla, secured 6th position valley-wide. Hejab Bhat from Government Higher Secondary School Hadipora Sopore, Mohammad Fouq Lone from Government Boys Higher Secondary School Baramulla, Seerat Majeed from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore.
Several others tied at 7th position, including Aayat Yousuf Bhat, Abkar Nazeef, Iqra Hassan, Muhammad Hazim Bhat and Mushfiq Nazir, followed by multiple 8th and 9th positions and ties at 10th.
Among private schools, SRM Welkin's Science stream success featured Maliha Sareer topping with 498 marks at 3rd alongside Shaima Rashid also at 3rd, while Umar Shakeel Kar at 5th with 496 marks, Madiha Nisar at 7th with 494 marks, Muhammad Hazim Bhat at 7th, Suhana Bashir at 7th, Meer Amon Jamsheed at 8th with 493 marks and Afreen Nisar at 9th with 492 marks.
In Commerce, government schools claimed two spots, with Syed Haamid Mujtaba Kazmi from Government Higher Secondary School Fatehgarh Baramulla at 6th and Zeenat Rasool from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla at 7th, while no private entries in this stream.
In Arts, government institutions continued their strong showing with Gursewak Kour from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla at 5th, Bushra Huda from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Uri and Syed Shafayat Hussain from Government Higher Secondary School Boniyar at 6th, Arwa Nazir from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore at 7th—again, no private school positions.
Home Science results featured Aliya Manzoor from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Baramulla, at 7th, and Ronak Akbar from the same school at 9th.
Meanwhile, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla, Abdul Rashid, attributed the success to sustained efforts, noting district results neared 85 per cent in grade 10, while 81 per cent in grade 12.
"There's not a single government school with very poor or zero per cent results, as seen in the past. The lowest this time is one school at 64 per cent," the CEO told KNO.
Addressing parental preference for private schools, the CEO stressed performance over perception. "This is what parents should look at. What matters is the results", he said, adding, "Whatever learning gaps exist, they will identify and fulfil them. In the future, results will be even better."
Baseema Aijaz, Vice Chairperson of the renowned institution of Valley, SRM Welkin Sopore, celebrated her institution's Science stream dominance, securing eight top positions, including two at the 3rd valley-wide.
"By the grace of Almighty Allah, the school performed well this year, too. Marks are not the only criterion to judge a child's capability. It's the hard work and joint efforts of student, parent and teacher that pay off," she said, crediting the trio.
Baseema consoled parents whose children fell short, stating, "There's nothing to regret, there's always a next time. Marks aren't everything."—(KNO)
